Lucas U39 Light Switch

Forums

Can anyone tell me how to wire my pre war 16H with a replica Lucas U39 light switch as it doesn't have the No. 5 position, as in the original diagrams?

Thanks

Hi Garry.

If your 16H is post 1936 and if the wiring diagram shows position 5 as providing power to the tail lamp then you could try position 7 as per the panel tank models or position 1  as per the WD16H. Hope this helps.

I can confirm that 5 on the original U39 would be the feed to the rear light and instrument light. So putting the rear light wire next to the power feed terminal could be a way or sorting it. If you are careful then trying different combinations till you get the result you need is another way of doing it.

If your replica light switch has a spring blade contacting the centre of the rotary part of the switch then this is where to feed the tail light from.
