Jubilee fork tee ring stem movement

Forums

Hi guys I'm after some help please,

i am currently rebuilding a jubilee and have come across a problem with movement in the top yoke, I have built it up using the Norton parts list diagram but I have a gap between the steering stem and the top yoke! Can anyone shine a light on if I should have a spacer that fits into the hole where the stem comes through before I put the washer on then the dome nut?????

Many thanks

Hello Chris,

Yes there is a spacer -part number 21703, steering stem spacer - and there are also shims - part number 21702, steering stem shim. .020".

These parts fit above the dust cap and under the top yoke. And they are proper little pigs to fit unless you are particularly ambidextrous. Unless you are very handy 36 loose ball bearings and various other bits take a lot of jiggling to fit and often end up on the floor !.

You say you have the parts list - see page 16(publication PS205, (Price 3s. 6d. in 1959) - there is a really excellent diagram there.
