International footrests

Forums

I find the footrests on my featherbed Dominator are too far forward.  I have a vague memory that the International bikes had footrest hangs that are a bit longer.  Am I right, can I get Inter ones and more my feet back a bit?  Doing so would of course mean that I need a shorter gear shift lever and brake pedal.

The prewar parts list has the same hanger for all models.  And a Dommie one I bought recently was the same length as the one on my prewar Inter.  I know that doesn't prove anything but it's not encouraging.  I thought the 1920's machines might have had shorter hangers, but not longer.  Perhaps someone else knows more?  The only ones I've seen on sale have been the same length.

You could of course fit rear sets...

Hi Paul/David,

I have just had a look at my 1948 parts list and there are 2 hangers listed, 1 for Inters and 1 for the other models. I think the reason for this is so the same hanger can be used in both positions on the Inter plunger frame which has lower rear frame rails than the pre-war rigid frame. This is probably why they do not appear in the pre-war list. The WD 16H had even shorter hangers and I think the the distance between centres for these three would be 2", 3" and 4" but I would need to double check those measurements.

Paul, I think RGM have 4" repros on their website but check the length with them first and take a deep breath before you see the price !!

can only go so far.  I just had a look in my 1950 Parts List. It shows V95 for roadsters, V96 for International, and V89 for Manx.  The Manx one appears to be about the same length as Inter (but lighter), which are noticeable longer than the road-bike ones.  These arms are simple straight items, so could not be used on the right side of a Dominator exactly as is.
