International cambox breather

Forums

My understanding of inter oil leaks is that a big part of the problem is the build up of pressure in the cambox forcing oil out past the seals. Has anyone every tried putting a breather in the cambox with a 1 way valve to reduce this pressure?

I need to do some machining on my cambox as it is, so I'm tempted to try putting a breather in it to see if keeping the pressure down helps. I have the central feed lubrication on mine so I could use the boss on the casting that is used on the standard inter lubrication. Then run a pipe down the frame tube and out the back somewhere.

Has anyone tried this before? And if I'm missing something and this is a stupid idea, tell me now please!

I don't know about pressure in the cambox causing leaks but as there's a total loss oil feed to the valve guides there's always going to be oil everywhere, hence you see bits of sponge pushed into the hairpin springs to try and soak it up.

You also need to ensure that the tunnel that your cams run in is not damaged. See George Cohens's website for repair details
