I posted this ages ago on the singles forum, but no response, so here goes in general!

I have an ex-race rolling chassis which has no frame number, the original lower left tube had been replaced with a section to carry oil for chain lube, and with it the gusset plate had been changed. The frame is, I am sure, is from a Wideline Featherbed single, with the narrow front engine mount and the flattened top tube, but the Reynold stamping at the headstock (pictured) looks like it may be 1960, which I thought would be Slimline. Any ideas, as somehow I need to get a registration!

Thanks, Mick.

It could be a Manx frame, They where never built with slimlines. I'll go and check on mine what number is stamped.

Many thanks Mike - I wish! the rear subframe is a cobbled together loop added to the stub ends of a Wideline, not the neat and lovely Manx one.

Checked the stamped number on the headsteady lug.

On my -59 350 Manx it seems to be: | 6 | 9 |

Could be something more. Orientation different to yours.

Primary transmission oil in the left tube under the tank, exit just above the gusset, inlet close to the steering head.

The chain oiling is as per yours, but the rear subframe looks like standard Wideline. I'll try to put up a picture when I next get to the workshop - might be after Easter the way jobs are being lined up for me!

Mick.
