Help required 'Midlands'

Forums

I'm looking for a classic bike mechanic or an experienced enthusiast in the Midlands areato help me get my bike started and running well.

It's a 1949 Model 18 engine,laydown gearbox,Hemmings Clutch and primary,BtH Mag/alt (fixed ignition timing) and a new Amal concentric carb.

The engine and gearbox have been rebuilt by a 'Norton specialist' ,unfortunately he is not too interested in standing over his work or being helpfull.

I think it may be Valve timing, ignition timing or carb(needles and jets) but I really do not know,as a novice I am quite out of my depth and really need somebody who knows what they are doing.

Thanks in advance for all advice and help.

Regards Darren

Hi Darren, how far are you from Wolverhampton? It's possible I could be of some help in basic checks re valve and ignition timing etc.

It dosen't bode well that you suspect timing problems despite a 'professional' rebuild. To save other people the trouble you have experienced why don't you name the person/business concerned?

Get in touch to see if I can be of any assistance, Simon.
