Good evening
I have a dollshead gearbox(es2 1939)
The gearpinions are numbered N 8044 13 etc
I replaced a few pinions by NOS.
Are the gear pinions from the laydown gearbox interchangeable?
Do they fit in my dollshead gearbox?
The teeth look the same.
29-13 24-18 20-22 18-24
Regards
Dirk

Al of the intermediate gears are interchangable. The sleeve gear from a layshaft gearbox, while having 24 teeth, is slightly shorter than that in an upright gear box to allow for different sprocket offset, and therefore can't be used in an upright box. However, the upright sleeve gear can be used in the laydown box. There were a couple of articles in Roadholder giving more details.

I can't answer your question without dismantling gearboxes in the garage, but I would guess they are the same. The internals are very similar to the Commando as well, I use Commando bearing, bushes and kick start pawl when reconditioning my Dolls head box.
