ES2 cam followers

Forums

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement pair of cam followers for my '50 ES2? I've finished stripping the engine and they are badly worn. The guides don't look to bad so will be able to re-use them. I've had a look on rgm and norvil websites but no sign of any there.

Thanks

Andy, if you have trouble finding a good set of followers, you could have the face trued up and then built up with hard chrome, not exactly cheap, but they will last for a good many more miles. Mine were done this way sometime in the past, and have given me many miles of trouble free service.

Have you ever come accross a process called hard facing? It consists if building the surface up with a hard weld and then grinding it back to the required finish.

Hard facing heats the base metal up so to enable the hard facing to adhere. I would think that this would change the integridy of the case hardening elsewhere on the follower. Better check first with an engine reconditioner who does this process first.

I have had cam followers welded up with stellite and then ground back to original profile successfully. Should be OK for an ES2.
