Hi. I believe it is possible to fit an electric start kit on a 1972 (combat) but wonder if anyone has done this and if so what would be the best kit to fit, also would the electrics/stator require an upgrade?
Thanks Mark.

Hi Mark
Check out Alton's useful video for fitting their "eKit" . I've run one in my 1969 Commando "S" Type (sacrilege to some I accept?) for the past 6 months and am very pleased with the result. As Iain says above, it comes with it's own new alternator stator etc.

the only 2 i know of are the Alton (from France but resold by Andover, and others) or the Old Britts one from the US.
Alton would be favourite i expect and comes with its own alternator rotor/stator.
I am part way through fitting one at moment, but ended up getting a PW3 cam while at it and as these things do it is all taking a while.
