Early Nortons with ML magnetos?

Hi all!

I am doing some magneto research & had heard thatML was taken over bySmithsin 1919, and then Smiths sold the ML business to Lucas in 1930. ML mags were apparently used on a lot of very early Nortons.

Can anyone add any info here? I was in contact with Ken at Brightspark Magnetos & he has just installed one of his Easy Caps on a ML mag & it seems that theLucas contact breaker block for the face cam mags was derived from the ML design. In fact, they're identical except that the ML block is designed to take a centre-screw with a 60 degree countersunk head, whereas the Lucas centre screw has a non-countersunk head. The good news is that the the C03 EasyCap fits straight into the ML contact breaker, so no more digging into the armature to replace the capacitor!!!
