The single tube frame obviously had a different switch altogether and it's certainly not the switch fitted to the Featherbed Dominators as was implied in another thread..

There are a variety of generic & non-standard brake light switches that can be made to work effectively.

If you want the factory correct switch, let me know what year & model single downtube bike you have & I am happy to look it up in the original Lucas books.

Some info from Lucas:

For all Norton twins & singles 1949-1956 the correct switch is the Lucas Model 22B, part number 31437B

If you have a 1957 model 77, the correct switch is a Lucas Model 22B, part number 31437B.

If you have a 1957 Model50,ES2,19- use the Lucas Model 22B,part number 31383B

For 1958 Nortons:

Singles (exept 30 & 40 inter) 31383

30 & 40 inter 31437

twins : 31383

Nomad: 31383

31383:Picture of SWITCH, STOP, TYPE 22B

31437These 2 versions of the Lucas 22B appear identical, but if you look closely, assuming the electrical connectors at the bottom, one switch pulls to the right, one pulls to the left. The 31347 (lower pic) is very common on Triumphs. If you are very careful, you can disassemble these & reverse them, but be careful of the spring flying out !!!!

On the original Lucas switch, you will find the part number stampped onto the top of the silver slide at the wide end
