Dominator seat pan

Has anyone out there got a photo of the underside of a Norton Dominator Slimline Seat Pan,I removed the seat but feel that the way it was attached was not correct so I would like to confirm the correct way to connect it to the frame.

Thanks

Even with the plastic on the one photo, I don't recognise this as a slimline pan. It might be a pre featherbed pan but slimline seats are straight at the front where, it meets the back of the tank. Not the case with the pre featherbed seat.

Buy a new complete seat from Leighton. No doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I suspect they are using the same press tools now as they did when supplying Norton in the 1960's.Just ask for 1962 Slimline Norton and it'll turn up and will be identical to the original. Mine is indistinguishable from my original - apart from not being rusty and split.Fixing is a pair of tubes at the front with rubber inserts that fit on a pair of prongs on the frame sticking back from the cross member between the top rails just behind the tank. Plus a Dzus fastener onto the rear mudguard.

Where will I find the Leighton firm that you mentioned? Thanks

As I have said in another thread - Leighton's do a perfect reproduction of the original Wideline seat (apart from the fixing stud threads being wrong) I have seen numerous other copies and they are not as accurate. I don't know what their Slimline seats are like but I imagine they are spot-on too. As far as I'm concerned thay are the "Masters" of bike seats.

the under side of a slimline seat pan is nothing like a wideline seat pan , for a start of there is two leg at the back on a slimline thay lock into a hole at each side of the frame and then there is two steel loops at the front of the seat-pan with rubber in them to slot in the two hooks on the frame, at the front of the seat and at the back of the seat ,you have one lug for the dzus fastener so there is no way a wideline seat pan will fit correctly too a slimline frame, even I would not try this one, get the right seat pan for the job, Yours Anna J

Anna

This is the way the bike was when I bought it,I now have the job of putting it back the way it should be,I will be buying the correct seat but I have had different views on what the correct seat is,I was told the 1962 Dommi ss had a hump at the back, then I read that this did not appear until 1968,could you clarify for me please.

Thanks again for your help.

Malcolm
