Dolls Head/upright gear identification

Forums

Genuine Norton Dolls Head and upright gearbox pinions are marked N - - - -( four numbers for the part number), followed by another two figure number (for the amount of teeth), as shown in the gear identification chart by Peter Roydhouse on this website, e.g. a standard ratio mainshaft sliding pinion with 22 teeth is marked N8036 22

Some pinions have the first four numbers followed by -3o ( that is meant to be a zero at the top as in three degrees).

I'm guessing that -3o may be a later form of pinion that has a different angle to the teeth, and is not interchangeable with ones without the -3o marking.

Can anyone confirm this, or otherwise, and if so in what year and model of gearbox did this come into effect?

Thanks in anticipation,

Roger.
