Dolls head problem

Forums

Hi All, I acquired a dolls head box which is pretty complete except for linkage. Stripped it to replace bearings and check internals etc. However, upon rebuild the outer case won't tighten up without jamming the kickstart. Bit baffled by this.

was the cover in place before you replaced the bearings ?if so check the bearings are fitted correctly.also check that the shaft that holds the selector forks is screwed in fully .thats the shaft with the two flats on the end.i say that as i bought a cover with a hole punched out due to someone tightening the cover without the shaft being fully home .its hard to suggest what your problem is without seeing the box. hope this helps.

Hi Tony, I bought the box loosely assembled with everything there. Can't be sure it was fine before. I did notice that the original layshaft case bearing was slightly proud of the case and replaced the same way. The bearing is a 6203 replacement.
