No wonder the 16H gearbox leaks. The cork oil seal around the inside end of the kickstart shaft is in at least 3 pieces. I think I'll replace it with a narrow section o ring. Are there any drawbacks? The Dommie has an o ring that leaks, but x rings are better. But some oil has to get past to lubricate the main length of the shaft. Any experiences out there? It's always safer to replace like for like.
There has been previous discussion on this including fitting o rings in a groove on the shaft. I suspect that might be better. But it's harder to fit, needing the groove turning down deeper into the hardened shaft.
