detail corrections. on a Model 88..

Forums

At the moment, my 1955 Model 88's rocker oil feed pipe has a slightly strange route. It passes left from the oil tank union, then bends backwards and does a loop between the oil tank and the exposed battery, and then goes forward to the cylinder head. I would like to know what exact route it should follow.

Also, my battery (an exposed Lucas) has a rather non-standard retaining bolt - it's actually a cable adjuster. Can anyone tell me what part should be fitted here?

Hello well by late 1955 the battery was enclosed by then but the earlier Model 88 battery was in a rubber box sitting on a battery tray and had a metal strap fitting with a wing nut and long bolt at the top of the strap fitting to hold it all together, just has the Norton 16H and other Early Nortons Had See Norton Owners Club Parts yours Anna J

I have a 1950 Parts Book covering all the singles, but no twins parts book, so I can't look up a drawing....

So is the battery strap bolt a long bolt , with its head at the top and a wing nut below the battery tray?

My 1955 workshop manual shows a folding kickstart lever, but the 1959 one shows a non-folder. Did the Model 88 get a folding k/s lever in the '50s? For safety reasons I am looking for a folding k/s lever. Ideally, it will have a small lateral offset, around 1", bent sharply out near the shaft, and then vertical. Was one made like this?
