Barrels and pistons

when i needed a set of barrels and pistons for my triumph engine in my triton i went out and purchased a set fitted them all ok no problem at all no smoke pistons bed in ok all fine . when it comes to getting any for a Norton i notice there doesn't seem much of a choice out there hence i think thats why all the agro starts on about rebores and piston quality ect. just wondering why that is considering how long Norton have been around .

Well well Barry its Because of the market deman's on Norton part over seas , and the fact that Triumph Build 100 motorcycles to Norton 1 , So there are a hundred times as many Triumph parts out there than Norton ones , and now the values have gone up owners tend to hold on to parts , like I meet up with two guys together buying up Norton parts on mater what there condition was at auto jumbel sale some time back when you found a part you were looking for these guys had already bought it, no mater witch stall you went too , so if you happen to see them around it was to the caravan cafebar a cup of tea and Bacon bun and home has you were wasting your time even looking, Yours Anna J

yes anna you have to be quick getting second hand parts. i was thinking more of the avalability of barrels and pistons on the patterned parts side . i think most triumph motorbikes are made over seas i don't know which euro zone though. Baz

Barry, take a look at the Norvil Motorcycles site. New barrels and pistons are readily available. You will find much discussion about the suitability of new GPM pistons but I have found them to be absolutely fine. I would be cautious about autojumble finds. Gordon.

Hello yes at Norvils extorstent prices and I would not touch GPM pistons with a very long barge pole, there the wrong shape and too heavy , thats if you know anything about piston shapes , yours Anna J
