Today I got my jet kit from AMAL and wow...what a huge improvement.
But I am curious about the old needle I found in my original needle was stamped with the letter "B". The old needle is considerably longer plus the needle jet measures .001" larger hole. Little wonder that I had troubles tuning the carb !!
Question: What would a needle stamped "B" be for ? Model 16 perhaps? Or another bike entirely ?

It's all about length

Amal Monobloc Needle ID
The needles are marked with the letters B, C, or D.
B types are fitted in the 375 Carburetter
C type in the 376 Carburetter
and D type in the 389 Carburetter.
The needles in some cases are marked with a number in addition to a letter.
Point of Interest....The Amal Catalogue uses the spelling carburetter. The Oxford Concise Dictionary suggests carburettor as the English version with carburetor for the U.S.

If I remember, a B needle fits a 376 carb whereas a D needle, which is longer, fits a 389 carb. I haven't been out to the shed to check though.
