Hello Now if your looking to have high pipes and silencers down the left hand side of your 650 , there is a way around this now by using the commando 750-S pipes and asking Unity-Quipe to make you up a set of alloy engine plates so the engine is set forward that bit like the commando motor is and then the commando pipes will fit right and you can then fit short silencer after market ones to make the job look good just stainless steel 3/8 stud bar for the engine plates and half nuts and then a domed nut on top of the half nut then these will not come lose and they look good to now I hope this may help have fun -PS please send us all photos of your job and a different looking 650 would be great yours anna j

The Nomads never used high…
The Nomads never used high exhaust pipes as standard and they used the Norton ES2 frame and not the Model 77 frame as so many books have shown. In the 1960's, the American market sold high pipes for Norton twins that were based on the export 1959 to 1962 BSA 650cc Spitfire scrambler exhaust pipes. These went down one side of the bike and were produced in both the earlier 88 & 99 cylinder straight exhaust ports and the later splayed exhaust ports for the later 650 and Atlas cylinder heads. Aldens Exhaust pipes will make any exhaust pipes in either steel of stainless steel if you take them the bike and they will produce what ever you can imagine and they will make it for you. I bought some of those American Dominator high pipes back in the 1980's and I still have them.

Buying off the shelf pipes is doomed to failure. In my expensive experience they don't fit without a lot of work. The better course is to take the bike to a specialist and have a set made up and fitted.
Custom bike specialists are probably the best place to start for recommendations, if there is not a Norton specialist conveniently available. If you tell me where you are, I might be able to suggest someone.
