21T engine sprocket

Forums

I'm looking for a 21 tooth engine sprocket for my pre-war inter but am struggling to find one. I understand they come in a number of offsets as well, mine measures up as about 0.125, but I don't know what the various offsets are.

Can anyone help with what the offsets are? And where I can go looking to buy a new one?

Try contacting George Cohen, he knows a great deal about the older singles. If the drive side main shaft on the OHC models is the same as the SV and OHV models, perhaps a sprocket for the inter can be obtained through RGM, they offer engine sprockets of up to 23 teeth in all of the various offsets.

I got a sprocket from RGM but unfortunately the taper up the middle is a completely different size, they have been very helpful and I sent them my old one as a sample. However they don't have any sprockets of the right type. Does anyone know where else I cold to looking for an Inter sprocket?

RGM have said they could have a batch made but it will take several months, seems a bit long winded if someone else is already selling them.

Ken McIntosh lists them.

I've seen that. Was just wondering if there was in the UK first, if not I'll have to contact him for one.

Thanks

andy....i,ve just had a 21 tooth sprocket for my dollshead gearbox made by john hemmings.you can only buy 19th for early gearbox,s

so i sent my sprocket to him and he welded on a blank then re,cut the teeth, you can get his details from in the old bike mart.

I once resorted to turning all of the old teeth off the existing sprocket and welding a 21 tooth sprocket blank, (with the hole bored out accordingly of course!)into place. I got the sprocket plate from a bearing stockists and was told the sprocket plate is heat treatable to harden the sprocket teeth. It worked nicely.

I can't find a 21T sprocket anywhere at the moment so I may have to turn the teeth off and use a blank as you suggested. Stu Rogers can supply a 22T sprocket so another option is to fit one of these and drop a tooth on the gearbox sprocket to try and even up the gear ratios.
