Hi, I am just rebuilding the forks on my 1959 Model 59 and putting them together there seems to be a space of about 1" between the top of the damper rod and the bottom of the fork stanchiontop nut. Is this normal? If not have I done something wrong? Will it cause any problems if I put a spacer in to fill the gap?

Normally you would block up the front wheel (bike on center stand) and screw the top of the rods into the chrome top nuts.
