I think the length of copper pipe attatched to the union at the rear of the tappet housing is the "Tappet Guide Oil Pipe"? Should this lead anywhere or is it just a vent/overflow for excess oil please?
It's a drain pipe.

It's a drain pipe. The upper one of the two curling back under the footrest here.
