Hi all,
I purchased sight unseen what the seller said was a 1930 model 18 frame but I saw that it had 588 on the identification so I looks like its a model 19 frame.
The problem I have is when I checked it against Norton engine and frame number data from the internet it makes the frame a 1928 but I thought that the model 19 in 1928 was still a flat tank model, the frame is definitely a saddle type frame.
Can anybody confirm what year this frame # 588 39258 is.
I already have a 1929 model 19 and wanted a 1930 model 18 frame to complete a 1930 model 18 bike that has a 1929 model 18 frame.
I like to get my bikes as close as possible to correct if I get the chance, so now this new frame is not required and would like to have the correct info to sell.
Cheers
Andy

Andrew,
Best way to accurately confirm date of your frame is through the Factory Records, but here's some information from my data:
My 1930 model 16H: Frame No: 39081 despatch date 15/02/1930
My 1929 model 19: Frame No: 37765 despatch date 28/05/1929
So your frame should be 1930 but as bikes were built in batches then the factory records are the verification.
regards
