The spare parts list shows part no. E2/492, a washer T1 , Front chain case, inner portion crankcase washer.I have assembled the chain case and drive without the washer!
Can someone explain the purpose of this washer, how is it locatedand is it essential.

That washer you refer tolocates onthe crank case, around where the end of crank protrudes,sandwiched behind the inner case. This is to seal off any primary driveoil leaks. I think that if you put a good bead of sealer (silastic?)behind the case around the openingbefore you bolted it up to engine, this should take care of any oil leaks.
