Hi,
Can anybody tell me if they know where to get copies or similar latches that fitted the mid 30's Norton toolbox.
Cheers

A couple of years back I spent many fruitless weeks searching ebay - and proper shops - for a suitcase latch to fit.Eventually I found an old suitcase in a junk shop and butchered that. The latch is almost identical and it came ready-patinated!The lugs on the body fitted into the original holes. But the latch part sits higher so it can rest on the overlapping lid of a case instead of being flush with the body. So I made up a thin alloy spacer to suit.If you find a better one, please post here! The PO took the original one off to paint the box - and now he cannot find it anywhere. Now I need the key!David

There are at least three forms of mid-1930s toolbox locks, plus of course top and bottom opening (although I don't believe that this altered the locks).

I only seem to be able to add one attachment at a time.
I'm not sure about the top left corner of this one but I've seen this lock type on both top and bottom opening. It seems to be common around 1934 - 36
