Hi there - only just noticed that my 74 Mk 2 Commando has no gearbox number stamped on it. I had a look at another Commando and see the number clearly on the upper casing - did they stop stamping at some point or is this likely to be a replacement shell?
One other point, I read in a recent magazine article in CBG that the gearbox number should match the engine number? - didn't think that was the case.

The gearbox number matches the engine and frame numbers on my 74 and 72, so you probably have a replacement shell.
