Hi David,

Welcome to the forum. Your engine is the early 1933 type with the 2 main bearing crank and the transmission shock absorber on the crankshaft. This was used with the Sturmey Archer clutch and gearbox, but the clutch is the later Norton type but I cannot see which gearbox is fitted.
Looking at the frame, my guess is that it could be a Model 19 as it has a cranked top tube and a large gap between it and the engine. As David C says, the best way will be to get a factory record from Chris Streather listed in your Roadholder magazine or the records section in the menu bar.

Hi Richard,
Thanks you, I thought the gearbox was the wrong type by the miss alignment of primary chain.
Is there no way of using gearbox by modifying frame for alignment.
I will take some more photos as required for Chris.

Hi David,

With the Norton 3 spring clutch you do not need the engine shock absorber. This should be the same fit as the plain taper and key sprocket fitted on later engines. These come in 3 different off-sets and with the 2 bearing engine you probably need the type with the chain-line furthest away from the engine. You will need to double check these as my suggestions are only what I can see in your photo. I would advise not to modify an original frame if there is an easier method to line up the chains.

It doesn't look that there is so much missing really it would be lovely to locate the age related parts and have it running in its current sleeping condition:))))

No not a lot, just trying to locate those missing parts. Have managed to get a petrol tank, I know it's not easy to find parts and will probably take some time.
Not going to restore, eventually ride and have fun.
