I need some assistance who can help me I need one of these.....a 19 tooth straight cut gear cog with 3 dogs for my post 26 Sturmey Archer 3 Speed CS Gearbox see photo's attached...I seem to have lost a tooth....and no the before anyone asks the Dentist can't help....LOL
Can you post key dimensions? I expect I'm not alone in having various parts from various Norton gearboxes, and if that cog is the same as one of the later ones you might be in luck. Off out now so can't check to see if it is possible...
here we are this the best I can do with a ruler I'm afraid fingers crossed
Russ... sorry to be so long coming back. I realise as you say in your post that the key issue is 3 dogs per pinion in the early bikes up to and including the lay down box used up to 1956 to four dogs in the later bikes with the AMC box. The 3 speed had a different change mechanism also. It might be worth posting again under General to see if a lay down pinion from an early Dommie is around and might fit. If the later one has a collar for the change fork, maybe that could be turned off in a lathe. Much cheaper than making a new pinion.
Does this fit?
if the photo can be trusted...
I had one made reversed engineered and Nitride hardened....job done....it's the one on the right
looks a close match
