OK, I have a Commando clutch in my Dommi - now what .............

Forums

Thanks to all who have offered advice on my clutch. Now I need to remove it as part of my preparation for removing the engine. The clutch was working well so I don't want to refurbish it any way, just to concentrate on getting my crankcase apart and searching for bits ! So, can it be easily removed as a total unit ? Without buying a special tool ?

If this is a kit sold by Norvil for Dominators does the kit include a special aluminum cage for mounting the alternator ? Something looks very different around the belt drive area (previous experience has been only a Model 50).

The nut holding the clutch on is behind the diaphragm spring so you will need the tool to compress it. Don't even think of attempting it without as that spring has a lot of energy in it. Once you have the spring off you can remove the clutch as one lump.

I've no idea what comes in the Norvil kit as my belt drive is on a Commando. You could ask Norvil.

Agree you'll need the spring compressor (pt. no. 06.0999) widely available, e.g. NOC Shop, ANIL etc for around £12 + p&p +VAT. Quickest delivery most likely from RGM Norton.

Norvil list a Dominator belt drive kit 069533DA and there is a picture of this on their website http://www.norvilmotorcycle.co.uk/069533DA.htm

I can't see anything particularly unusual provided the full kit has been used. As Ian said I'd try Norvil for a list of parts and fitting instructions to be sure it's all there and fitted correctly.
