In the course of preparing bits for painting, I discovered the pictured stamp on both of my front engine plates ('48 Inter). Anyone care to enlighten us all on the sub providing this part?
Holiday greetings from now smoke-free California,

No-one seems to know anymo…
No-one seems to know anymore which company this Registered Trade Mark applied to. It was discussed at one point on John de Kruif's Vintage Norton page.
It was common on components in the 1930s and I have the same stamping on an 18mm sparking plug spanner.
It pretty well has to have been one of the companies of the R.T. Shelley group but none of my attempts looking at Grace's Guide (the industrial history site) nor the trade mark listings have come up with anything.
It will be recorded in the National Archives - but until the code is cracked, almost impossible to find.

As itâs a reg trade mark,…
As itâs a reg trade mark, I expect you can search the archives, the .gov website is down at the moment, but donât have time to check the National Archives. Assuming of course that itâs a uk trade mark.
Ah just seen Richardâs post above, were on the same lines anyway!

Mike:
The stampings? in the photo are very hard to read.
Can you post a statement as to what you believe they are reading?
