Hi Cosimo,
The original battery for your 1947 Model 18 would be a Lucas T battery. This gets it's name from the shape which has a lug each side to bolt it on with. These batteries have not been made for many years, but new replica cases are available so you can fit a modern battery inside. Try some of the U.K. parts suppliers such as Kingpin or on ebay.
