Parts Supply

Forums

Dear Owners,

Here at Andover Norton, we are looking at doing small parts runs for consumable parts for the Rotary owners, but we need to better understand what items you all may need.

Please comment below with Items you may require; Part numbers would be great.

Thanks

Hi Karl

Thanks for reaching out to us with your post above. It's good to hear that Andover Norton are looking to improve the supply of spares to owners of Norton Rotaries .

As a former owner of a P52 civilian Commander I understand the problems owners face trying to keep their bikes on the road and we applaud your initiative.

Hi Karl

Well that is brilliant news.

I do several thousand miles a year on my Commander and when my wife retires intend to do a lot more.

Kind regards

Ian

Hi Karl,

I can only go on my own experience with a Commander. As anyone with miles under their belt will tell you, the water pump coupling lets it down. I wonder sometimes if the sliding Oldham Coupling would last a bit longer if the grades of stainless were different. Galling (in the engineering sense) is what it looks like to me.

Hello Karl

Great to hear you have taken the initiative.

I have recently acquired a Rotary 4296 and would like to use it regularly in spring/summer. I am in Scotland so the road salt in winter prevents motorcycle use. Here is a list of parts I would like to see available.

If you are doing a short run I am prepared to purchase a bulk order so I have parts in my workshop. I wouldn’t expect you to keep the parts on your shelf just in case I might need them. Thanks Karl. Stuart Burton.

If you can supply these parts I will order them today. Contact me at - boxar555@gmail.com

I am looking for rear chain oil filler plug, part no. 55 0224 It would great if there was a source of newly manufactured parts but I appreciate the difficulty in stocking and the impossibility of stocking all. thanks Campbell Adie

Hello Campbell,

I've been and extracted my filler plug.

As you suggest there is not one listed as available on Andover Norton website. Graham Wilshaw doesn't appear to have one either.

What you need, ideally, is a black, nylon, 19mm hex head, M14 x 1.5mm pitch screw 10 mm long. I can't find one easily. Anyone up for a challenge?

A normal M14 screw is 2.0mm pitch and won't do. Look for a screw M14 in the metric fine range.

You will see these advertised and probably too long. Time to get the hacksaw out. Not sure what the hex size will be.

Got anyone who owes you a favour and has some skill? Could be made in aluminium and would look very nice.

season's greetings

Peter

Hi Peter,

Good find, it looks like M14 x 1.5 is a pretty standard size for Sump Plugs. You can have them in just about any colour or material you want.

I have only just read this email. One item I and 2 others in the ROC would buy the classic rear light cluster. This bolts directly onto the IP2. Another thought might be the air box.
