Hi All,
I have a Jubilee with a Navigator engine and have read through various threads regarding how to check the oil level.
Today I took the filler cap off and low and behold there is a dipstick fixed to the cap, see the images attached.
My question is this, is this an actual Norton dipstick or is it something that a previous owner has made up?
As you will see, the blade part is bent and has what looks like a hacksaw cut in the blade which must denote 'full'.

De-luxe or Standard Oil Tank

I would say it's the standard oil tank.

D/Lux oil tank / standard oil tank
We are missing a photo of the oil tank.
The 'De/Lux model' oil tank is under the seat, and the oil cap has a dip stick incuded
The 'Standard model' oil tank is on the right hand side & does not have a dip stick.
Which model do you have?

Normally, aim for 2" below bottom of filler cap. Or you could use my method...On the rear panel of the oil tank you will find a round dimple impressed into the metal - use the top of the dimple as your guide when adding oil - if you can see the dimple - add oil.

The De-Luxe Lightweights had a straight dip stick like yours attached to the oil cap.
The Standard Lightweights did not have a dip stick attached.
Some Royal Enfields used the same size cap with a dip stick. Other bikes too.
Over time dip sticks were bent by riders so that the caps work for Standard Lightweights.
Perhaps this helps.
You need to state if your oil tank is from a De-Luxe or a Standard model.
