Following on from the thread about using the dishwasher to clean aluminium parts, can anyone recommend a cleaner that brightens dull aluminium, back in day Gunk used to work quite well but its not as effective any more. And before anyone suggests putting it in the dishwasher this lump has a frame and wheels!

Total rookie here fellas, so please bare with me! Doing my first complete bike re-build, wife said I needed a hobby?! When re-building engine, other than obvious worn or damaged looking parts, what else should be replaced rule of thumb. Rings, valves, obviously gaskets and seals, maybe springs, etc...... Bike was running before being stored 10 years ago, approx 20k on engine

Are there UK fitters of K-line valve guide liners? Preferably in London or South East. My Inter needs new guides next winter. The correct one for exhaust is a bit special (with spring seat attached), so liners should be quicker and cheaper.
I don't know for certain if the existing bronze guides were replaced when the engine was rebuilt but that was only perhaps 3000 miles ago. Can bronze guides wear out so soon? The lubrication pipes work.
And should I fit cast iron? Most other machines have them.
I'm toying with the idea of applying a ceramic coating to the paintwork on my bike. There seem to be a plethora of products of vastly varying prices available. Does anyone have any experience in this field? Is it worth it and any recommendations, please?

Im looking for any information on a Norton 500cc reg no JCG557 most likely an ES2 going by the attached photo.
A friend and colleague of mine is looking for information on his late uncles Norton, message from him as below;

This seems an odd issue to me, I've found nothing similar anywhere as yet.
Having an issue with the Monobloc 389 mounted on my Dad's JAPton special.
When you tickle a Monobloc, the fuel is supposed to "overflow" through the tickler, yes?
Under what circumstances would it "not" overflow through the tickler (which is simply a tube open at both ends) ?
I've removed the tickler and it's completely free of obstructions. (and the entire carb has recently been ultra-sonically cleaned.)
