Re-Commando with frame , engine and gearbox numbers 235430. Did this almost complete bicycle start life as a Roadster, Interstate or an S-Type March 1973 ? Dave Catton tells me it went to the US but there are gaps in the records from then and this falls into that category. So can any of you dudes over there with a similar sequence number throw any light on what model this is likely to be. Thanks and cheers, Howard Robinson

Hi Howard, Andover Norton hold a number of Commando factory records. They usually charge £25 for a copy.
Thanks for that Tim - Are you saying that AN have a more complete set of records than our Club ? Thanks anyway. Howard

I am not saying that just that but we do not hold complete records for all commando models and ANL may be able to help if we cannot

Andover Norton have the or…
Andover Norton have the original despatch record books for the 850 Mk3.
This in addition to the records that everybody else- NOC, VMCC etc- has.
The gap is between late 750s and the Mk3s, with only a few bikes- late 750s, some early 850s and short-strokes- covered in non-numerical records that make it practically impossible to find a particular bike.
Hence it is easiest and most honest to say anything between the numbers 205945 and 325001 is not on record.

I recall the 235XXX series was originally reserved for the short stroke 750's but then was used for the very late 750's and also some 850's. So a right mess.
