Iam currently rebuilding a 1949 ES2 engine and need a bit of help with what are the best cams to fit and what all the numbers stamped on them refer too. What the plan is to build the engine upto be a bit "better" than standard ( in performance ) with a slightly opened out inlet tract ( about 1"3/16 at the most ) and a compression ratio of about 7.5:1 . I dont want a super fast road burner just a little bit more go! I have ( this is what came with/in the engine ) Inlet marked "QLL" and Exhaust marked "18", what do i need to get the best results ( without removing the tappets )and what markings should i look for? also i should mention i will be using a high level type of exhaust system.
many thanks : phil
