Hi Tom, If the cable has a few spare mm you could cut off the nipple and solder on a smaller one, or if you have skill with a file and a vice, make the nipple smaller. Brake is likely to be seized cam or shoe pivots. If the shoes are used and its a SLS put the thickest shoe at the leading position (one shoe leads ,one trails) the leading shoe does all the work and wears fast.

Are you sure that is a throttle cable , the inner cable diameter looks too large. All Amal cables have the same size nipple at the twistgrip regardless of the carb type at the other end.

Hello Tom - I had a 1967 650Ss with a pair of 930 Concentrics and Air Filter as original fit. It had plastic splitter boxes in both the throttle and air cables and adjusters fitted into the carburettor tops. The twist grip was probably the same as your image and the nipple was definitely smaller than your replacement. In my parts book it lists the 2 cables at the carb end as '028238' and the single cable at the handlebar end as '031614'. The junction box is '019824'. However it does not specify the carb type in the cable description and I know that the carb end cables are longer on a concentric than a monobloc. So you may be better ordering Commando items. Good luck , Howard

Cheers lads,
brake wise its a twin leading shoe know the adjuster rod was nocked, so starting from scratch with it,
trying to decide on the throttle tube as part underneath is missing,

Tom
If you prefer easier fitting and adjustment of cables and carbs, I can recommend the twin pull throttle, found this solution much better for my Commando. As suggested by others, if purchasing cables the Commando cables are probably the best standard fit or have them made up by a specialist, there are two in our suppliers and services directory.

Hi Tom, I'm not sure the 650 came with concentrics, The late (67) Atlas and Commando did, so if you order cables for that you may have more luck. I always have to shorten/modify cables to suit and solder on the nipples myself, its not difficult if you have tinmans solder (not electrical or plumbers) and bakers fluid flux (E-Bay) .I would practise on some old cables ,its a very usefull skill to aquire and there is plenty of info around on the subject. I hear that a Twin pull throttle stays in balance better than the splitter system. My Nortons are all single carb.
