Spare parts list

Forums
An old bloke came up to me in the street at some bike event and when he saw I had a Norton he gave me a spare parts list for Lightweights. Is it of any use to the Club? I don't have one so it's no use to me - but before I bin it, I've no idea if they are a) of any use, or b) commonplace or c) rare.It is not illustrated. It looks typed on foolscap paper - a bit yellowing.David Cooper

Hello there,

I was hoping that someone 'official' would reply as it is good of you to think of other club members. I don't recognise your description of the spare parts list for lightweights. It is possible that it is just a very old list of stock held at NOC spares as from memory they did issue a stock list on a regular basis in the days before computers and it was a bit like your description.

There is an official Norton publication called Spare Parts List Jubilee 1959 Publication PS205 (and updates) - price 3s. 6d but this is a 28 page bound booklet with illustrations and gives part numbers for every nut and bolt. I do have one of these and it is very useful.

Patrick - Jubilee and navigator owner.

Sorry Tony,

I know the 'committee' are all dedicated volunteers and wide awake as well. I know that Neill on spares works day and night and that you all provide a grand service for NOC.

I'll see if it will scan through the office copier if I get time on Monday. Otherwise I'll just post it.It's not my property really since it was passed to me 'on trust'...David Cooper

The document is 'publication number PS212 labelled 'SPARE PARTS LIST FOR 196 MODELS 250CC JUBILEE STANDARD250CC JUBILEE DELUXE350CC NAVIGATOR STANDARD350CC NAVIGATOR DELUXE'Sadly no illustrations so it's really a price list. Bit out of date, sadly.I'll mailing pdf to noctechnical anyway.

As far as I knew all Norton's standards SpareParts Lists wereillustrated. My lightweight list is a rather grubby PS 215 for 1961/62 models. I might have an electronic version somewhere, which I usually buy from Fleabay. Perhaps the list mentioned is a price list supplement? I have a May 1959 one which says it is for "all models" - actually I have two, but I'm just greedy!
