Rear Shocks on 1954 ES2

Forums

Has anyone had experiance of servicing the rear shocks on an ES2 Swing arm - can they be serviced - is it possible to do it at home or is it a professional job, are there any pit falls or special tools needed? Any advice would be greatful.

Thanks

Hi Charles,

I hope this post does not appear twice, it didn't seem to load first time I tried. The Norton service manual says "No attempt should be made by the normal rider to dismantle, drain or refill these units". There must be someone out there who can service them, but, a point to note is that they should be "primed" before use, and be kept upright before fitting. If you don't have a manual, and don't know how to do this, get back to me.

Regards,

John.
