Rear Isolastics

Forums

Hi

I have just started to check the rear isolastics clearance, they are the vernier type fitted to an early fastback, and their seems to be no endcaps and teflon washers fitted, I can set the gap to .010 between the abutment and what I think is the tube, would this be correct, or do I have to fit the end cap and washer for it to work correctly. If they are needed can it be done in situ.

Thanks for any help and advice

You should have an end cap and ptfe washer in there on both sides to take up the space. I'm surprised that there is enough thread on the sleeve to allow the abutment to close up to the tube. Someone has been cutting some corners and with the lack of space to work in that area I can understand why. It's not correct and while you are in there you could put it right.
