Re: Jubilee rear spindle

Forums

Hi, I am currently rebuilding a '61 jubilee deluxe to find the rear spindle is bent. I have a replacement although it is shorter that the original does anyone know the correct length or if there are two different lengths? Thanks

As far as I know the Jubilee and Navigator (both Standard and De Luxe) used the same size rear spindle for all years. So one of your spindles must be the wrong length. It has the same part number certainly from 1959 to 1961/62. I haven't got a later parts list. Part number is 21808. Maybe someone else has a loose spindle which they can measure.

If the spindle is bent I would be very concerned about the condition of the actual wheel. Is it damaged?

Have you trial fitted the the replacement spindle in the wheel hub? does it fit properly? Does the wheel fit properly in the swinging arm with all the proper spacers in position?

Just refitted my rear wheel, my spindle which appears normal doesn't reach the end of the elongated sleeve nuts holding the wheel on. not sure if that's normal?

Hi Dan,

That sounds normal to me - as long as you are happy that the wheel is securely bolted into the frame.!

The ones I have go on maybe three quarters off the nut - Both sides appear pretty equal.
