Hi Steve,

According to the Jubilee spare parts list (1959) the oil seal, retaining cup, and rivets are listed as spares. I don't know if the NOCshop keeps the oil seal as I have not changed this item recently as strangely enough this seal doesn't seem to leak too badly . Well you know what I mean - there's bigger leaks everywhere else as a rule and the sleeve gear one is the usual culprit in this area.

if you get in touch with Ian at Spares he should be able to say for certain as sometimes items are in stock but not listed on the website. His number and email are in Roadholder and he is easier t contact than Neil.

Steve,

After you Clutch Trouble - I've picked this one up too! The seal on the "other side" of the G/Box mainshaft - leading thru to the clutch is behind the Drive side housing (Clutch Casing) held in by 3 rivits thru a flimsy retaining cup and opposite the G/box Sleeve Gear Bearing Oil Seal (part no 041247 - I think - the one I believe you've ordered).

I think the Part Nos you require are - Chaincase Oil seal - 22474, and its Retaining Cup 20993 - available thru NOC Spares (I think!). The Rivits need to be GENTLY tapped out by hammer (supporting the chaincase) or LIGHTLY drilled and then tapped out... standard rivits will need to be separately acquired.

In general though - this seal only retains the "splash" oil held in the Primary Chaincase - even though I replaced mine some time ago - it still dribbles a little - keeps the chain lubricated - if your Sleeve gear bearing oil seal is weeping - this will certainly deliver more oil onto the G/Box Drive sprocket "chamber" - but then - see my other comments - as you will be stripping the primary (Drive Side) Clutch / Casings etc off - why not replace this Chaincase Oil Seal at the same time ? By the way - keep the G/Box oil level UP to approx 2.5 pints (1.25 litres) - thats another MUST... (and another story if you don't).

Enjoy and Have fun!

Whoops [typo problems] that's 4 rivets (not 3) that hold the retaining cup (20993) & seal (22474) to the back of the Primary Chaincase that need to be gently puched out...

Thanks Steve

Hi Steve,

Now this one you've got me on! I do know there is a "distance piece" or spacer for the sprocket (No 78 on diagram), but not having stripped the box out for a good while - I'm afraid I cannot remember..... I think the spacer run in the seal (?). Sorry - best I can do for now
