it is about 50% complete so im looking for a vast amount of parts for it !

mainly frame/cycle parts

are wheels/forks/ controls/lamps/instruments etc interchangable with other brit bikes ? as i would like to get it on the road asap then over the coming years get it to original, as funds are limited at this time.

Hi Tony,Although parts are rarely interchangeable with other bikes, you're still in luck! - The club maintains a very good selection of spares for the Jubilee as reasonable prices. As a member, you can buy them on-line through the NOC Shop.Click on NOCShop on the left, then "Online Catalogue " and finally "Lightweight" to see what's available.

A lot of the cycle parts were "borrowed" from the AMC sister range of Francic Barnett cycles. It was a question of mix and match

Hello Tony,

I have a 1959 Jubilee (and a couple of Navigators) and there's no question about it the Club Spares is definitely the best source for obtaining parts. The other likely sources of course are Ebay where there's lots of junk and autojumbles where there's also lots of junk. Some Ebay sellers have seriously inflated prices. Francis Barnett and James parts are often similar but they are only rarely identical - so make your own choice eg the Jubilee wheels have a bigger brake than most FBs etc. but I do think the forks/handlebars from the FB 250 Cruiser are probably the same. Silencers are the same as Dominators so pretty easy to get new but a bit pricey.

The bodywork on the De Luxe Jubilee is VERY hard to find, particularly the side panels. Correct seats and decent tank badges are also very hard to obtain. So if you are serious when you say you only have 50% of a Jubilee you will be kept occupied for a long time.

Best wishes.

Patrick.

Hi Tony,

Welcome to NOC and good luck with the Jubilee restoration. I did an Electra restoration and when I started I thought the parts would be easy to come by - what with the power of the World Wide Web at my elbow. Not so. And be aware that the Norton lightweight had some pretty serious design changes in the 7 years of sale. All detailed in the model histories on this website. Each design change affected parts interchangeability to a lesser or greater extent.

I could not have done my restoration without help from NOC members who raided their spares caches for parts and freely gave advice. For instance I replaced my front axle with a stainless item. Now I see someone wants an axle for an Electra. Do I sit on it? or make contact with someone who probably has in mind that a member will give him a pristine Electra (Late Dominator) front axle? or leave him to buy a new axle from Norvil, Andover Norton or RGM?

I think what I'm saying is that there are a lot of Lightweight parts cached by Lightweight owners but they are likely to 'used'. Try publishing in 'wants' of Roadholder and make a list. If you're not fussy on condition, indicate.

I'll try and help.
