Hi Martin,

The natural rotation of the layshaft will tend to drag the kickstart lever down. This is anticlockwise and will take the kickstart lever away from back of your leg.??

Yet you say the lever comes down when you blip the throttle. Presumably, away from your leg. Ahh.

If you tell us clockwise or anticlockwise it would be helpful.

Normally, the kickstart return spring is enough to overcome oil drag and a bit of friction from the layshaft.

If you only have 1/2 a turn of preload, rather than the recommended 1 1/2 turns of preload on the return spring, you will find the lever is dragged down from it's normal 'parking' position.

I suggest you investigate the fit of the gearbox end casing and the kickstart mechanism within. It could be that the collared bronze bush for the kickstart shaft is not fully home and there is no running endfloat.
