Navigator seat

For those of you with missing or wrong seats for your Lightweights:

I never was quite happy with the look of my aftermarket seat for my Navigator.

It has the wrong shape and sits too high. This is the seat pan, a more generic pan also for seats of some Featherbed heavyweight models made to fit a Lightweight Norton.

Recently I was able to get an original seat via Ebay in original shape.

I ordered a new cover from Leightons in grey with the correct pattern for the seat top. and dismantled the seat.

The original cover was riveted on to the seatbase after drilling out the rivets I could take it off.

The sides of the pan were coverd with some fabric and some black stuff (glue?) that came off in brittle pieces

The seat is now at the local upholsterer, I gave him the seat foam from my aftermarket seat to correct it to the original shape. The original foam had a deep cut and could only be used as a pattern.

Hopefully I will get it the next weeks, looking forward for a better looking seat!

Here you see the sandblasted and powdercoated base with these fabric stripes for the sides.
