Navigator oil leaks

Forums

Hello, I am hoping someone might have some ideas on howI canstop my 1961 Navigator from leaking oil. The main problems are the oil seals either side of the engine sprocket - the one behind the clutch and the one behind the gearbox. I've had these seals replaced and yet they are still leaking. I'm using 50 grade oil in the gearbox as I've been told modern 80/90 grade oil could react with some of the components. I also changed the primary chain case gasket and fit a new one with sealer and yet this still leaks underneath. I know the engine is wet sumping and I plan to fit a new oil pump (when I find one that isn't too expensive). I just don't know what else I can do to stop the oil leaks, does anyone have any ideas?

It turned out to be a problem with the engine breather. There was an inch and a half slit in the pipe which caused oil to fly out near the engine sprocket. This made it appear like the oil was coming from the seals either side of the sprocket. After the pipe was changed the leaks stopped. Fingers crossed.
