MYSTERY MUDGUARD

Forums

I recently inherited a very well looked after 1960 (manufactured 1959) ES2. The black rear mudguard is 6" wide and valanced with an attachment at the rear which can be removed to facilitate withdrawal of the wheel from the swinging arm.

With the bike came an absolutely unused 6" wide very deeply valanced (6" versus circa 5" of the ES2) , undrilledblack rear mudguard forming the complete arc of curvature. In other words it is just like the ES2 mudguard, although more deeply valanced, but manufactured without a separate extension piece.

I assume that it is from either an earlier model ES2 or 50 or perhaps from an early heavy twin. I have looked at various photos of these models but cannot come up with a definitive answer as to what machine it could belong to.

Any members who can throw some light on this?

I can send photos to anyone who has more experience of the earlier models.

I have owned 650SS & Inter for many years: the ES2 is my first OHV single.
