Model 18 Primary Chain Case

Forums

Hi,

I have just purchased a 1946 Model 18 basket case and I am in the process of checking the parts.

Can someone let me know if the primary outer chain case in the attached photos is correct or has the seal rim profile been cut away?

Thanks,

Ross

Dont know if its the correct part, but the  case looks unusually straight.  I would not write it off as the bit that actually seals looks ok.

Hi Robert,

I believe the part is original to the bike so would like to keep it.

I need to check if the profile of the seal is correct or if it has been cut up at some point as it doesn't look correct.

The images online of this type of case show the upper side of the case profile but not the lower side.

If anyone has a case they can upload an image showing the lower edge profile that would be great.

Thanks,

Ross

I would not have thought that many people will be laying on the ground to see your unusual "scallops" but on reflection I was once at a posh Italian show surounded by Million pound Ferraris with my little Ducati M3 and  was pounced on by a glamorous mini skirted lady photogropher who spent 15mins rolling on the floor under my bike trying to snap all angles. Sparked me up no end!!.
