Miles

Two questions please.

First. Has anyone done a substantial (total) milage on a 961?

Second. Are the servicing costs as horrific as the rumours suggest?

Hi Andy My Dominator has 4000 miles on it but only one service and that was a reasonable £200 ish. I cannot remember the exact amount. Nigel Darken probably has the most miles on his and then there is always Will and Richard who have ridden through Canada and the USA.

Hi Nigel Sorry to hijack the message. I pm'd you a few weeks ago. Not sure if you got it or not.

Hi Graham,

Sorry didn't get the last message, I don't often 'do' the messages, hope you are well. After much agonising and road tests of other brands, I decided to order a new Mark 2 as I love everything about the 961's, except perhaps the noisy transmission which is much improved but still has a way to go yet! The interesting thing is that my 961 was just getting run in, although as I say the clutch and gearbox were noisy, very sad to see it go!

I did 8500 miles in USA/Canada during a 10 week trip on my 961mk2 SF, two up for 18 days with luggage, my blog on Twitter was/is @nortontrip66 ,done 1000 miles b4 I went,& some extreme weathers whilst over there, had a surprise free service from Norton Canada & upgrades from dave&richard cootes & another service from TeamMCC in Chicago at £229 .

I bought the bike to use in same way I used bikes when I was a teenager,go anywhere/any weather ,adapt it & make it work,& so far it's done just that & intend more trips in future.
