I am restoring a Model 18 from 1936. To my surprise, I find there are metric size ball bearings in the wheel hubs.
This is not a problem, as new bearings have been sourced and installed. But really, metric bearings in an old British motorcycle?
Is this correct?

The wheel bearings in my 1958 19S are metric, the wheel bearings in my BSA Gold Star are inch while the big sleeve gear bearing in my BSA's gearbox is metric, go figure.
